The Turner Diaries is a book that I can truthfully express I hate it because of its disturbingly hateful ideology and the way it praises violence. Reading it felt nerve-wracking and, not just because of the weird content but because of the undeniable racism, antisemitism, and insane drive of the story. It’s not just a work of fiction, it’s propaganda designed to incite hatred and justify terrorism, which is disturbing and wrong on so many levels. One of the main reasons I dislike it is how it dehumanizes whole groups of people, making it seem like minorities and Jews as enemies of society. The book isn’t trying to tell an interesting story or explore deeper themes, it’s trying to push a dangerous, one-sided agenda on people. It was frustrating and honestly annoying to see such a lack of brain. Real life is so much more complex than the black-and-white world the author creates. It’s as if the book was written to brainwash people, not to inspire them. The book’s use of violence is another huge issue for me. It doesn’t just describe violence, it celebrates it, turning acts of terrorism and murder into something heroic and something that should be normalized regularly on a day to day basis. That kind of messaging is so harmful, especially in a world where we’ve seen real-life tragedies inspired by this kind of writing or “inspiration”. It’s hard to separate the fictional aspects of the story from the very real consequences it’s had. Overall, The turner diaries feels like a toxic piece of writing that spreads separation and hatred. It’s not thought provoking or insightful, it’s just straight up dangerous. While some people might read it out of curiosity, I think it’s important to approach it logically and recognize it for what it is, a hateful manifesto disguised as a novel.
